Why a Conventional "Apple a Day" is a Very Bad Idea by Elizabeth Gilbert

Balancing our family’s budget and our family’s health is not an easy challenge. I know that we are better off eating as much organic and local foods as we can, but often it is just too expensive to buy everything organic, especially in the winter months. But often I just can’t bring myself to buy foods that I know have been grown using toxic substances.
In my struggle to feed my family well, I have come across some helpful resources that I thought I’d pass along to our readers. The first is the “dirty dozen list”, a collection of the top produce items that are the most toxic in chemicals.
The Environmental Working Group has compiled the Dirty Dozen list (12 foods which we need to only eat Organically grown), as well as the "Clean 15" (which are okay to eat Conventionally grown). They note that if we simply choose to eat these 12 "Dirty Dozen" foods organically, we can reduce the pesticide residue in our bodies by 90%. That is pretty significant!
You can find the full lists of the Dirty Dozen and the Clean 15 HERE, but just as a preview I'll tell you that the top most toxic fruits and vegetables include apples, peaches, and bell peppers. What surprised me is that even if you peel the peaches and apples, they still contain high levels of pesticides! It is also helpful to know some of the foods that are least contaminated including watermelon, avocado, and sweet potatoes.
Now there are times that we just can’t avoid eating food that may be of a lower vibrational quality than we prefer. For those of us who have developed our perception of vibrational quality, it is a daily experience to find food and drink which is lower vibration than we would want to put into our bodies. This was also known to the Ancients, who made a ritual of "Blessing the Food" before eating it; as our students in the Vibrational Sciences and BioGeometry know, this directed 'Blessing' does indeed improve the vibrational quality of the food through this method (although these types of mental/prayer methods do 'wear off' of materials fairly quickly.) Blessing the Food is a wonderful practice before any meal.
Our modern vibrational sciences also provide easy and powerful solutions to vibrational problems. One that we use every day in our home is the Food/Liquid Energizer Plate, developed by our Vesica Institute research partners at Dimensional Design Co. in Chicago. Placing foods or beverages on the plate for a few minutes before consuming them creates a shift in the food that we can really feel.
Another helpful tool we use every day is Dimensional Design's ECO-LASER, which has a very powerful transmission of beneficial vibrational information through the laser light of the unit. Among it’s many applications, applying the laser to your food can bring the vibrational quality of the substance way up in just moments. Since the laser is the size of a pen and fits easily into a pocket, it is especially great for traveling when we aren’t able to carry our other correction devices with us; we just run the light from this special laser over the food or drink for a few moments before we eat.

Of course, there are many other reasons to support organic agriculture besides our own health. The health of the planet is at stake too. But when we have to make tough choices because of budget, it is nice to know that we have options to increase the quality of the food we take in.

We take for granted today that "Pesticides" are used on our food; this use has been normalized through an aggressive campaign by big Agribusiness firms, which began long before any of us were born. By 1913 compounds containing Mercury were sold to the public to use on Seeds; they were sold for the next 50 years before they finally removed from the market because of their powerful toxic effects. World War 2 research into chemical agents to kill human beings (Nerve Agents, which destroy the human nervous system) also created toxic pesticides (such as Parathion in 1943), which are still used on our food today. Now that poison-covered food is considered "Conventional", naturally grown food without poison applied to it (the norm for all of human history until the last 100 years) has become something exotic and unusual, "Organic" agriculture.
Although denied by Big Agribusiness, the poison covering many "conventional" foods today has been shown by many researchers to cause cancer and a wide range of other illnesses. Today the mass public has been taught to consider this poison-coated food as the norm, what they naturally buy to feed themselves and their family. Neither the media nor the compromised medical establishment (the AMA in the U.S.) educates the public about the dangers of this constant ingestion of poisons; the AMA does not educate its own doctors about the full effects of these toxins, nor train them in even the most rudimentary detoxification protocols which could prevent or heal the potentially fatal effects of eating these toxins daily.
There are M.D.'s who are aware of these problems, and try to educate the public (often finding opposition from the AMA itself, including attempts to remove their license to practice medicine.) It is critical for us to know that the actual types of poisons, and the quantity of them used, varies widely from crop to crop. Some foods are actually fine to eat "Conventional", which is why it is so important to educate ourselves about which foods are okay to eat.
This 'Dirty Dozen' list (along with the "Clean 15" list of foods which are okay to eat Conventional) is a great help to simplify this knowledge and bring it into our daily routine. We have these lists posted on the front of our refrigerator at home, and follow their guidelines every time we go to buy groceries.
